So many long times until Apple Inc. release Safari for Windows. The latest stable release is v3.1 and i have this version installed on my computer. The developer claimed that Safari is the fastest web browser on any platform and i agree with that but there is a small things why i hate Safari for my default browser. So here is that things i hate about Safari browser:
1. Doesn’t have New Tab button
I know i can use Ctr + T to open a new empty tab, but sometimes i always click plus (+) button like Firefox when open new tab.
2. Less option on right click context menu
I can’t view image or link properties when i need them for some reason.
3. No extension or themes
Safari does not support extension and themes, it’s a real browser.
4. Bad font smoothing
Font rendering on safari is too blurry when i look closer.
Anyway this is just my opinion why i hate Safari at this time, maybe it’s different with others and i don’t know why. So why i install Safari if i hate them? Just a simple answer, i just want to make sure when i create a new wordpress themes they look standard on every browser for compatibility without css hack or something similar. No offense at all…

I know these are your opinions and you’re more than welcome to them but they are typical of people who fail to realise what Safari is… A super quick web browser.
1): Safari started on the Mac and as such is more useful when using the keyboard. Using the keyboard to open a new tab is more productive than random clicks all over the screen. On Mac Command T will open a new tab, on Windows it’s Control T. Try it, it’s way quicker than a button.
2): In 3.1 go to Preferences, Advanced, and turn on “Show Develop menu in menu bar”. Now you will see a menu item called “Inspect Element”. Now not only do you get the properties you get way more detail making it even more useful.
3): Once again Safari is a super quick web browser. Unlike FireFox it doesn’t eat resources due to unnecessary bloat like themes. Extensions are handled by the system, not the browser so it’s even easier to add an extension than in FireFox. Most of the extensions are just adding to the bloat anyway so I personally see this as moot anyway.
4): Why look closely at the font in the first place? No seriously, I’m not trying to mock you or your thoughts but why do you need to have your face right at the screen? That being said you may not have selected the right font style for your screen. The default is for LCD screens on account of most Macs these days having only LCDs not CRTs. Windows users are more likely to have CRTs so you may have to select the right font. Also, Windows doesn’t handle fonts well so while blaming Apple for this is common it’s actually more Window’s fault more than the browser. Check the difference between Mac OS X and Windows and you’ll see the fonts are crisp and clear by comparison.
Like I said I’m not trying to mock you or your views but many of the problems people have is because they’re so used to the idiosyncrasies of the Windows system that when Apple comes along and brings in a truly great browser people are thrown back. The fact that it’s not bloated like IE or FireFox seems to throw people for a six. The fact that it is more standards compliant than any other browser throws developers.
Of all the browsers I would rather use Safari than IE or FireFox. I have to use IE for our stupid call system at work which isn’t even close to standard code, but for every other internet surfing I only use Safari on Windows if not anything other than the fact it is also the safest of all the browsers currently. Don’t get me wrong I like FireFox but it is soooo slow and resource intensive. On the Mac I don’t even let FireFox near my Mac.
I’ve never try Mac before, because that i review this from my Windows system and i’m using flat screen cause LCD is still expensive here.
Anyway thanks for your information for “Inspect Element”, i don’t know about this before and you’re right this option has give me more details for the source and i really love it. Maybe i must create another post called “x reason why i love safari”…
LOL mac fanboy alert!
vote for opera..the fastest browser
but I love Fx :)
salam
Well, Safari is much faster tham opera in my opinion, but i still like the startup thingy, the thing with different windows.
I think google chrome is the best since it was the fastest between mozilla, safari and opera
Agree with you! I’m using Chrome on my laptop but still using Firefox on my pc because of addons..
Just finished a site with extensive CSS. Looks great in FireFox, IE and Chrome. Looks like crap in Safari.
I just love posts like zis :+)
there’s a big difference with chrome and safari (i compare them both becuz they cant compete with firefox) , if you dont use chrome for to long, it will gonna slows down, and when i open new tab in chrome and write something like google.com , it wont load, thats y i hate chrome.. and switch to safari .. yeah chrome popsup faster than other browser(thats the only advantage that chrome has ) but safari has the fastest when it comes in opining a site.. so go for safari!!!!!! … buddy there is a + in the safari browser you can see it the rightside of the tab and u can adjust the font for your safari buddy ..
