How to get Hotmail message from Gmail

Gmail is one of email provider with a complete feature. One of their feature which useful is get mail from other account via pop. You can download 5 more email address of the account to get mail from. In this tips i will use Hotmail since they finally enable POP access worldwide a few months ago.

Simple follow this steps carefully:

  1. Go to Settings > Accounts on your Gmail account and click ‘Add a mail account you own’
  2. Type your email address and click next. Then you have to enter your mail settings (see below). Once you are done, click on Add Account.
  3. Choose yes to able to send email from the account you just added
  4. Done


From now all email received from your other email accounts will be downloaded to your Gmail account. It’s really easy right?

Use this settings for Hotmail account:

  • POP server: pop3.live.com (Port 995)
  • POP SSL required: Yes
  • Username: Your Windows Live ID (ex: yourname@hotmail.com)
  • Password: Hotmail or Windows Live password
  • SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25)
  • Authentication required: Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
  • TLS/SSL required: Yes

For Yahoo! Mail, you have to use YPOPs since built-in Yahoo POP service is not free.
