There is a tons of lightbox script on the net, but almost all of them has same effect and controls even based on different javascript framework. That’s why Christoph Schüßler, the author of jQuery.popeye made another fresh effect and controls for the alternative if you bored with classic lightbox.
I wanted something more integrated in the flow of the web page - a box with a small preview image with caption, the possibility to flip through an array of more thumbnails and, of course, to show an enlarged version, all in one place. Lightbox offers that. Moreover, I wanted the box to stay anchored to the page layout and not hovering above it disconnectedly. The way to achieve this was writing a script which would fix one corner of the enlarged image to the exact spot where the thumbnail had been.
Based on jQuery javascript framework, jQuery.popeye gives an inline lightbox effect that support multiple images, thumbnail and image caption without close over the whole main page. It’s only 22.09 Kb at all without jQuery script.
